Principles of Award Youth Exchange Ventures

Aim is, that activity ventures should be offered by Operating Authorities from two or more countries working together and not by National Autorities. NAAs should focus on the training of young leaders (e.g. Award leadership in general, leadership in international ventures, Award youth reporters).

1. Because of the specific meaning of the word “project” in Award terminology (Residential Project) international youth exchanges should be called “ventures”.

2. A Residential Project is intended to broaden experience through living and working with others who are not everyday companions.

3. International ventures should have one Award section (e.g. expeditions or Gold Award Projects: “activity ventures”) or training of young leaders (“leaders’ seminars”) as a main focus of activities.

4. International ventures should be examples of good practise in the corresponding Award section.

5. International ventures should be managed by participants as far as possible and should offer a special challenge (not just “click and fly”).

6. There should be activity ventures not only for young adults, but also for young people younger than 18.

7. Aim is, that activity ventures should be offered by Operating Authorities from two or more countries working together and not by NAAs (“no organization”). NAAs should focus on the training of young leaders (e.g. Award leadership in general, leadership in international ventures, youth reporters, …).

8. Planning of activity ventures should start two years ahead.

9. The internet (intranet) should be used as market place of activity ventures.
