Not every teacher hast to participate as a leader, but it is good if all teachers of a school know about the Award and agree with its basic ideas and contents. Some teachers think that Award makes young people too busy.

Important
Commitment of teachers
Not every teacher hast to participate as a leader, but it is good if all teachers of a school know about the Award and agree with its basic ideas and contents;
Good to start the Award as early as possible (young people), later it is difficult because students leave school and start to study or work;
School concentrates too much on conveying facts. Award adds a sense of solidarity and social aspect.*)
Problems
Teachers do not want extra tasks and work
Teachers think that Award makes young people too busy
Not too many partners outside of the school
Long schooldays of pupils if they are living in the country and schools are far away, so it is hard for them to do any extra activities.
*) Caution: What is meant here is that in Finnish schools, loneliness is a big problem because they don't have any class system any more. In order to prevent future massacres, they want to bring more solidarity into schools and think the Award would be a good tool for that but: I don't agree with that! The Award doesn't necessarily add a sense of solidarity because you can do the majority of the activities on your own if you like. The Award can't and doesn't want to be a cure for all problems! If a pupil is lonely and thinks about things like suicide or even worse, the Award cannot help him with that.
