Gold-Treffen 2008 von Kenia nach Mauritius verlegt!

Wegen der schwierigen politischen Situation in dem ostafrikanischen Land hat der „International Youth Achievement Award“ in Mauritius die Ausrichtung des Gold-Treffens 2008 und der Jahrestagung des Internationalen Rats im Oktober übernommen.

Wegen der schwierigen politischen Situation in dem ostafrikanischen Land hat jetzt der „International Youth Achievement Award“ in Mauritius die Ausrichtung des Gold-Treffens 2008 und der Jahrestagung des Internationalen Rats im Oktober übernommen. Diesen Beschluss des Kuratoriums des Weltprogramms teilte jetzt Generalsekretärin Gillian Shirazi, LVO, allen Nationalen Programmherausgebern mit. Die Nachricht aus London im Wortlaut:

It is with deep regret that we have reluctantly decided not to hold the International Gold Event and the International Council meeting in Kenya in October. The recent violence and general unrest has led to a lack of confidence by many NAAs from all regions in sending young people to Kenya at this time. This would have a serious impact on the success of the events.

This decision has not been taken lightly and was made by the International Trustees taking into consideration the views and interests of the many different stakeholders in the events. Every effort is being made by the Secretariat to support The President's Award at this time.

We are extremely grateful to The President's Award for their hard work in preparing for the International Gold Event 2008 and we thank them for their efforts. We sincerely hope that, now a political solution has been brokered, peace and prosperity will return to Kenya and that The President's Award will be able to bid for the next International Gold Event in 2011.

The International Youth Achievement Award of Mauritius has kindly stepped forward and will host both the International Gold Event and the International Council on the original dates. We are very grateful to them for their generous offer, especially as it allows us to keep the events within the Africa Region.

Das „International Gold Event“ (IGE) findet alle drei Jahre statt. Gastgeber des „IGE 2005“ war Hongkong, Deutschland wurde durch Jens Schindele vertreten.
