This year's International Gold Event (IGE) took place on 12-26 October in Mauritius and was a resounding success. Almost 100 delegates from over 30 countries attended workshops and presentations, and undertook service projects on the island.
The three underlying themes for this year's IGE were 'Making a difference', 'Telling the story' and 'Connecting'. Highlights from the event included the election of the 12 new youth reps for 2008-11, chosen to represent the voice of young people on the International Council (IC).
IGE delegates agreed to progress key projects including:
A global Gold Award holders' network
An online network for Award holders
A global Award Week
A video to promote the IGE and the Award's international scope the promotion of Award exchanges.
There will be a full report on the IGE in a special IGE pull-out in next April's Award World. If you would like to know more about any aspect of the IGE, please contact the Secretariat, or your IC rep.
