You might have noticed already that today we updated the participants list on the IASS 2009 website. In the course of this we had to cancel altogether six people from Cameroon (1), Italy (2 students from abroad) and Nigeria (3), who did not manage to get their visa in time.

You might have noticed already that today we updated the participants list on the IASS 2009 website. In the course of this we had to cancel altogether six people from Cameroon (1), Italy (2 students from abroad) and Nigeria (3)*), who did not manage to get their visa in time.

In the moment we are not quite sure about the situation in Ghana (5 applications); and there seems still to be no decision in Gambia (3). On our list we highlighted people from both countries in italic letters. It looks like that tons of emails; phone calls and messages have been more or less useless.

“We are volunteers and thus … can't contact any embassy from our side”, we wrote in the IASS 2009 Glossary. We yielded to the intelligible, strong pressure we got in the last couple of days to depart from this statement – but sometimes you simply can’t do more than you thought!

Because we have to finish the list of rooms this evening, we will book all people from abroad we are sure they will attend into the “Schwanen”. If our friends from Ghana or Gambia would manage to come after all, they will join the German youngsters in our Alte Bahnmeisterei.

*) Last contact was on May 30th.
