Again, many thanks for attending and / or helping with IASS 2008. As always, Summer School 2008 could only be successful because all of you – participants, trainers and helpers – were so committed and enthusiastic. With your support, after three years the Summer School’s infancy has ended this year.

Again, many thanks for attending and / or helping with IASS 2008. As always, Summer School 2008 could only be successful because all of you – participants, trainers and helpers – were so committed and enthusiastic. With your support, after three years the Summer School’s infancy has ended this year.
We were very happy to hear that you’ve learned a lot last week in Osterburken, especially by the “Planspiel” (Management Game), which we had developed from scratch by ourselves. But we have also learned a lot, and in that way the German Award will profit from your commitment and enthusiasm, too - particularly our Summer School concept, but also all of our “normal” courses.
Hopefully you are all back home now (or at the stopover before finally flying back to your countries) and have already managed to relax from the haunting, but also challenging week in Osterburken. We are feeling still a little bit tired and will probably need a few days more for recovering.
We already miss you all very much - all the more as it seems that you’ve forgotten leaving here the good weather you’d brought with you last week. Also, our Alte Bahnmeisterei was so lively while you stayed and we will need some time to get accustomed again with the calmness over there.
Because our website is “under construction” since Monday, we uploaded a lot of photographs to another site in the Internet, http://public.me.com/klausjvogel. Please send us a CD ROM or a USB stick if you have still photographs you want to share with us, so we can upload them, too.*)
As soon as the new website techniques will work, we will start publishing small reports about IASS 2008 and its different elements. You all are invited (some of you have already agreed), to send us shorter or longer texts. You don’t have to care about the details of English language, because Karsten, who is on his way to Tübingen since one hour, will do this.
As some of you have proposed, IASS 2009 will already start on Monday (24.08.2009), when people are still arriving, and will end on Sunday (30.08.2009) like it already did this year. Again, it will not be a youth exchange in the first instance, but a sequence of different leaders courses with the minimum age of 16 as a most important condition.
To support you in your roles as “Summer School Ambassadors”, you will get a copy of the IASS 2009 leaflet with the next circular. You all are invited to help us in the IASS 2009 team (Romania has already kindly agreed). Also, we would be very glad about any proposal how to make the 4th International Award Summer School the best to date.
*) We will temporarily publish IASS 2008 documents (like the famous Lord Mayor’s speech!) at the same place.
