Max has found the International Award very important for his self-esteem. He has learned to take more responsibility, enabling him to lead groups (something that he never imagined he could do before he started the program – Du kannst mehr als du glaubst!).

Max loves challenges and his current challenge is to complete the International Award as he is dedicated to this, and likes to finish something that he starts!

Skills. His dedication is demonstrated by the variety of challenges he has set for himself. During his completion of the Bronze and Silver Awards, he learnt Dancing skills and will now start to learn Greek so he is able to communicate with his Grandfather better!

Fitness. He will be building on his existing fitness by training for a Triathlon. His ultimate aim is to take part in an Ironman in either The Netherlands or Hawaii.

Service. For his service, he has contacted his local Mountain Rescue Unit and will be training with them over a period of 3 years, where he will learn both mountain rescue techniques and be involved in the conservation of the area.

Expedition. Max will be reunited once more with his old team with whom he has been working for 3 years in the Black Forest. They are currently communicating ideas to develop their aim which is yet to be decided. They will be walking through the Black Forest as he has learnt from an earlier experience when they were canoeing when they capsized soaking all of their equipment and food!

Project. Max’s dream is to go abroad, to work with indiginous people, and to complete a project of value in the local community. He plans to do this in a few years time when he has completed his studies at school, and his national service.

Max has found the International Award very important for his self-esteem. He has learned to take more responsibility, enabling him to lead groups (something that he never imagined he could do before he started the program – Du kannst mehr als du glaubst!). He is open to new people and new ideas. Max likes that everything in the programme benefits either others or improves himself.

„You should do it. You can improve your social skills, meet new people and have a lot of fun!“
